Exercise management
Slimming World’s Body Magic programme has been developed in collaboration with our physical activity advisor, and advisor to the Chief Medical Officer, Professor Ken Fox. It is in line with current government recommendations aimed at helping people build gradually to at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity activity on at least 5 days a week.
The programme uses well established psychological and scientific principles of behaviour change to encourage members to move from a sedentary lifestyle to an active one. Our approach has been thoroughly thought through and is backed by years of research and is a unique support programme which raises people's awareness to the benefits of moderate activity. It also helps them explore misconceptions and misapprehensions and then shows them how easy and accessible it can be to build moderate activity into their life.
An award system is in place to acknowledge members' achievements as they increase their physical activity levels. The programme encourages members to build up their activity to meet current government recommended targets.
This approach addresses psychological, then behavioural, and ultimately intrinsic commitment to activity.
