A smile really can brighten your day – and together our SMILES are brightening, changing – and even saving people’s lives all over the UK and Republic of Ireland.
We first realised the enormous potential of Slimming World’s fundraising efforts in 1996 after Consultants and employees raised over half a million pounds for Marie Curie Cancer Care. A year on, in 1997, we registered our very own charity – SMILES.
SMILES stands for SLIMMERS MAKING IT a LITTLE EASIER for SOMEONE, and each year our SMILES committee chooses a special charity to benefit from our Consultants' and members' amazing generosity.
So far SMILES has raised over £2,000,000 for these charities:
- Breakthrough Breast Cancer
- Barnardo’s
- Sargent Cancer Care for Children
- Children in Need
- NSPCC
- ISPCC
Throughout 2010 all our fundraising efforts will continue to raise money for the NSPCC’s Child’s Voice Appeal in the UK and the ISPCC (Irish Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Children) in Republic of Ireland. Every single penny we raise will help these charities transform their Childline services and answer many more calls for help.
