Smiling on referral

I would like to say a big, big thank you to my Consultant and the group I attend at Horfield sports centre in Bristol.

I had been losing weight with my GP, having a weekly weigh-in at the surgery, but had only lost 3lbs in 2 months. Then my GP ‘prescribed’ Slimming World to me using his new Slimming World on Referral partnership packs. I started at my Slimming World group in February 2006, pulling a friend along with me as I wasn’t brave enough to go on my own!

My starting weight was a staggering 22st 5lb meaning that my Club 10 target was going to mean a 2st 3lb loss. I looked at the target and gulped - this was going to take me forever!

The group started and as the evening went on I decided to really give it my all. The stories about how the other members were doing and their discoveries along the way gave me hope that, after many years of trying and giving up due to boredom or hunger, maybe I could lose some weight with this new
eating plan.

After reading the book from cover to cover when I got home, I decided to alternate my days - I found that Green days are better for me as I don’t mind having less meat but I can’t go without potatoes and peas very easily!  My friend’s potato and pea curry is my home lifeline as she makes me a huge bowl every week and I just pick at it when I want!

I reached my Club 10 at the beginning of May and I was really happy – along with my doctor and hospital consultant. As I write this I’m now 2st 11lb lighter since I joined.

I am writing this letter basically to say thank you, and to give hope to anyone who’s been referred to Slimming World by their GP. We may have had a big struggle with weight but you’ve found Food Optimising now and
it works!
