Samantha Marston from Nuneaton in Warwickshire has lost a phenomenal 7 stones to become a yummy mummy and enjoy lots more family fun, in a healthier body. Samantha shares her amazing transformation
with us…

“I’ve been overweight all my life but my weight increased more when I went through adolescence. I tried all the usual diets – including Atkins and a cereal diet - but they just didn’t work in the long term because I’d feel deprived.

“After I got married and had a baby my weight increased more and I had a particularly embarrassing moment when I bumped into an ex-boyfriend. I’d just found out I was expecting my second child (I was 7 weeks into the pregnancy) and my ex asked me if I was having the baby very soon or if I’d already passed my due date. I blushed and replied that I’d still got a bit to go yet, but I was mortified – I’d never felt so big.

“After I had my second child I went up to my biggest ever size. My eldest daughter was starting school the following year and I didn't want to be the biggest mum at the school gates - I wanted my daughter to have a mum she could be proud of.

“After I joined group and began Food Optimising I just couldn’t believe all the lovely food that I could have and still lose weight. Before Slimming World I’d skip breakfast and lunch but pick on crisps and chocolate then have a huge unhealthy dinner. At the weekend I’d have a big fry up then a Sunday roast and then later on I’d have thick sliced bread or crumpets with lots of pâté.

“Nowadays I enjoy a huge bowl of fruit with yogurt or Weetabix for breakfast. For lunch I’ll have a large meat salad or a bowl of noodles. Dinner is always bursting with flavour rather than grease. I enjoy things like salmon, asparagus and new potatoes, and I also still really enjoy favourites like eggs with Slimming World chips, mushy peas and Quorn sausages.

“I’ve made small changes but it’s had a massive effect. I now make time for three meals a day and I’ve changed the way I cook. Cooking was a chore before but since Food Optimising I love being in the kitchen. I walk a lot more and I’ve even invested in a bike which I cycle to my Slimming World group on!

“I didn’t tell work colleagues that I’d joined a group but since they started to notice I’d lost weight I’ve not stopped talking about Slimming World. A lot of colleagues have joined now and when I reached my six stone award they were just as excited as me and they put a congratulations notice in our monthly newsletter!

“I'm now able to join in and play more with my two children - we even go swimming at our local baths, not just on holiday. We’ve booked to go on our very first family holiday abroad; we've bought ourselves a second-hand caravan as I now feel confident that I’ll fit in the bed next to my hubby.

“I’m much healthier and my immune system seems stronger. I’m also more confident - I now work on the customer service desk occasionally at work which I wouldn't have dreamt of before.

My proudest time since losing weight however, is when I walk my daughters back and forth to school. My head is held high as I join the other mums at the gates, now I’m 7 stones lighter!”
