About Us

In 1996 members, Consultants and employees of Slimming World made a tremendous effort to raise money for charity.  When a cheque for an incredible half a million pounds was handed to Marie Curie Cancer Care, our Founder and Chairwoman, Margaret Miles-Bramwell was inspired to register Slimming World’s very own charity.  In 1997, SMILES
was born.

SMILES stands for SLIMMERS MAKING IT a LITTLE EASIER for SOMEONE, and each year the SMILES committee chooses a special charity to benefit from our Consultants’ and members’ amazing generosity.  So far SMILES has raised over £1,500,000 and helped:

• Breakthrough Breast Cancer
• Barnardo’s
• Sargent Cancer Care for Children
• Children in Need
• NSPCC

During 2008 SMILES is raising money for the NSPCC – a tremendously worthwhile charity working to protect children in every area of their lives.

Fundraising kicked off in January 08 with our annual 6-week Slimathon, and we're delighted to announce that the £££s and lbs have been counted and 2008's grand total is a phenomenal £42,000!

An enormous thank you and congratulations to all 400 fabulous slimmers who took part and lost an incredible 232 stones between them, and a really big thank you to everyone who sponsored and supported them.
