About Us

In 1996 members, Consultants and employees of Slimming World made a tremendous effort to raise money for charity.  When a cheque for an incredible half a million pounds was handed to Marie Curie Cancer Care, our Founder and Chairwoman, Margaret Miles-Bramwell was inspired to register Slimming World’s very own charity.  In 1997, SMILES was born.

SMILES stands for SLIMMERS MAKING IT a LITTLE EASIER for SOMEONE, and each year the SMILES committee chooses a special charity to benefit from our Consultants’ and members’ amazing generosity.  So far SMILES has raised over £1,750,000 and helped:

• Breakthrough Breast Cancer
• Barnardo’s
• Sargent Cancer Care for Children
• Children in Need
• NSPCC

During 2009 all our fundraising efforts will be raising money for the NSPCC’s Child’s Voice Appeal. Every single penny we raise will go towards helping the charity transform Childline and the NSPCC Helpline to answer many more calls for help.
