Build a better burger
No backyard BBQ is complete without a burger! Follow our three-step guide and get grilling the weight loss friendly way…
Step 1: Perfect your patty
For a beef, pork, turkey or chicken patty, make sure the mince blend you’re using is at least 95 percent lean. Or use your food processor to make tasty burgers from fresh or frozen fish or seafood like salmon and shrimp. To pump up the flavor even further, mix in your favourite herbs and spices, or add finely chopped garlic, onion or jalapeño.
Step 2: Wrap it up
Sandwich your patty between the two halves of a 2-ounce whole-wheat bun. If you’d rather go breadless, swap the bun for a few leaves of butter or bibb lettuce, or build your burger on top of a grilled portobello mushroom cap.
Step 3: Top it off
When it comes to toppings, the sky’s the limit. Pile your patty high with tons of healthy veggies like tomatoes, onions and greens, and add sliced radishes or slaw mix for extra crunch. Slip in a slice of lean Canadian bacon if you like, then dress the whole lot with chopped pickles and spices mixed into plain fat-free Greek yogurt to make a tasty home-prepped burger sauce.
P.S.…don’t forget your Slimming World fries on the side—they’re oven-cooked, rather than fried, so you can enjoy them guilt-free!
