With Mother’s Day on the horizon, Lewis Corfield couldn’t be more grateful for that special person whose support made all the difference on his journey to a weight loss of 95lbs*.

“Thank you, Mom, for your support”

“I’d always been known as ‘the big guy’, but the larger I got, the more self-conscious I became about the way I looked—and by the time I reached my biggest at almost 300lbs, my confidence hit rock bottom. Not only that, my health was suffering, too.

One day, I was alone in my room, hunched over the controller of my games console, when I felt a wave of pain spread across my ribs, making my chest feel so tight that it hurt to breathe. I’d been experiencing similar pains on and off for a few weeks, but this was the worst yet. As I waited for the feeling to fade, I realized that I really did need to do something about my weight.

I’ve always been close to my mom and knew she was worried about me. So that evening, I plucked up the courage to ask her to join Slimming World with me. She jumped at the idea, and it was great to have her by my side as we both learned all about the Slimming World plan. Together, we stocked up on healthy ingredients and started trying out loads of tasty Food Optimizing recipes.

I live with my girlfriend now, so instead of cooking together, Mom and I share recipe ideas, and message each other about what we’ve had for dinner that day. Thanks to all the support I’ve had from Mom—and my Slimming World group— I’ve lost 95lbs, my health has improved, and my confidence has soared. I feel like a new man, and I can’t wait to spoil her with a special meal on Mother’s Day. Don’t tell her, but I’ve already got it planned—asparagus and poached eggs to start, followed by a good old-fashioned pot roast and spiced berries with cinnamon cream for dessert. She deserves it!”

Lewis’s mom, Sarah, says…
“When Lewis suggested we join Slimming World together, I didn’t think twice. I’d recently been diagnosed with arthritis in my hip and I knew that losing weight could help reduce the pain.

I was surprised by how easy it was to follow the Food Optimizing plan. In the evenings, I’d have platefuls of tagliatelle and veg-packed stir-fries. Then on weekends, Lewis and I would make a healthy lunch together, like a chunky, home-made soup, while swapping recipe ideas for the week ahead.

As I lost weight, the pain in my hip eased and now it never gives me any trouble. The real reward, though, has been watching Lewis transform into a happy, confident young man. I’m so proud.”
