We offer a long-term behavior change program that is the antithesis of traditional ‘dieting’ – it’s liberating, motivating and sustainable.
Slimming World’s program is built upon a deep understanding of the psychology of weight management and the barriers people face when they’re trying to lose weight. We know that overweight people carry a double burden: the burden of weight itself and the far heavier burden of guilt, self-criticism and low self-esteem. It’s only by first lifting the burden of guilt and helping people to raise their self-esteem that we can help them to manage their weight long-term and transform their lives.
Slimming World members follow a healthy eating plan that offers freedom from hunger and guilt, while guided support from fellow slimmers – facilitated by Slimming World-trained Consultants – helps them gain the confidence, know-how and motivation they need to successfully lose weight and keep it off.
Slimming World’s success is based on three components that work together for long-term weight loss:
- a healthy eating plan that encourages members to eat abundantly without weighing, counting or measuring
- a motivational support package based on compassion
- an activity plan that makes moving enjoyable.
Healthy Eating Plan: Food Optimizing
Slimming World offers members “choice power” without ever having to worry about “will power.” Our healthy eating plan, Food Optimizing, is based on the science of energy density and satiety, and enables members to enjoy unlimited portions of filling, natural and delicious foods found at every local grocery store, so they lose weight without hunger or deprivation.
Community and Facilitated Peer Support
Unique to Slimming World, My Slimming Group features an online weekly meetup which gives members a chance to shine, celebrate success, share challenges and solutions, be inspired and help motivate fellow members on their weight loss journey. Members are also accountable to themselves and the group when they commit to a weight loss goal and action plan for the week ahead.
Between weekly ‘live’ online meetings, members have 24/7 access to their group and a personalised dashboard that shows their weight loss progress. Members also have access to:
- an online community and forum where all members share recipes, tips, advice and experiences
- inspirational member success stories
- hundreds of delicious and easy recipes and menu plans
- a weight loss and activity planner.
Activity Plan: Body Magic
Body Magic uses well-established psychological and scientific principles of behavior change. It helps people find their own fun, enjoyable and sustainable ways of increasing activity and making it part of their daily routine. The program encourages members to build up to at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity activity five days a week, and is suitable for everyone, regardless of weight or levels of fitness.
